Welcome to 7th and 8th Grade!
Dear PVSEA Students and Families,
Welcome Back! As we prepare ourselves to step back into the classroom together, I hope we can all put our best foot forward, set goals and challenge ourselves in ways like never before. I believe this year you will grow, change, and be inspired to journey through uncharted territory as we explore global history themes and connect to the world around us!
A few things about me...I have a 15-year-old daughter, Emery, who will be a sophomore this year. Just as many of you are, she is a very busy human, so I understand commitments outside of school, however, I also regard your commitment to school as a top priority. I believe it is all about finding a balance! I am married to my husband, Nathan, who is a Mr. Fix-It! I went to college at California State University Northridge and California State University Channel Islands. I also attended a college in New York where I received a master's degree in Reading and Literacy.
This is my 15th year teaching and my 11th with the Pleasant Valley School District. I taught 6th grade ELA and History at Las Colinas and Santa Rosa for many years. Entering my fourth year at PVSEA, I look forward to many familiar faces and am excited to conquer this year together!! I cannot wait to dive into our history lessons, engage in hands-on projects and have amazing class discussions! I believe that your active involvement in learning is the key to a great year!
This website will explain my policies, procedures and outline classroom and school-wide expectations. Please feel free to contact me at any point with questions or clarification. The only way to be successful is to truly understand what is expected, therefore communication is VERY important! I am also very big on creating a positive and happy classroom community, as well as building a safe environment for learning! Everyone is involved and important!
I look forward to a great year with you! Please feel free to contact me at any time!
All the best,
Mrs. Hughes
