Quiltmaking is a craft that sews pieces of fabric together to create patterns/pictures. The fabric is then stuffed with stuffing to make a thick blanket. A lot of quiltmakers create these quilts to convey feeling or emotions to others. They feel that this is because many people use or wear fabric. Quiltmakers try to create an emotional connection with their quilts to the audience. Quilts can be used as a memorial or to express joy. One example is Yvonne Well's quilt, called "Yesterday, Civil Rights in the South", is about the Civil War and her feelings about it. In summary, quiltmaking is a way that artists can express their emotions or to make the audience connect with their pieces.
