Skippack Elementary Art

Our Philosophy

At Skippack Elementary, our goal is to foster each child's individual creativity through a choice based art education. Students at Skippack are encouraged to explore their individual interests in art and through art to grow as artists. Students from Kindergarten through 3rd grade get the experience of a modified choice based art education, which means that students are expected to create under a specific project idea or theme, but still have the ability to be creative and make their project individual and unique. Students in 4th and 5th grade get to experience TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behavior). Students at Skippack are continuously working on developing the Studio Habits of Mind. Essentially, for the older students, our art room at Skippack is an art studio where your child explores his or her own ideas and interests the way that real artists do.

The Perkiomen Valley Art Department provides a K-12 arts education of the highest quality for all students. The department introduces art to our beginning students to a diverse range of art making processes and helps students to build their artistic and creative skills. Advanced students are guided in improving their skills, expanding their creative vision, and contributing to society as artists.
