THIS PAGE IS IN DRAFT FORM. LAST PAGE UPDATE: August 30/22
DRAFT 2022: In the Grade 10 Visual Art course you will be exposed to many new and exciting media and techniques. You will also learn to create your own personal vision by manipulating the elements and principles of design. In the process, you will understand and appreciate many forms of art while discovering the artist within yourself! Remember to keep an open mind, challenge yourself, work hard, take risks, have fun, be creative, be original and think. The more you put into it, the more you will enjoy it.
PLEASE NOTE: Asynchronous learning allows you to learn on your own schedule, within a certain timeframe. You can access and complete lectures, readings, homework and other learning materials at any time during the semester. A big benefit to asynchronous classes is, of course, the flexibility.
Students enrolled in this class are expected to....
Point 1 - Review the class videos and assignment information regularly and independently, without prompting. Tools will be in place to assist students with time management
Point 2 - Submit completed assignments before the posted due dates via electronic submission.
Point 3 - Communicate regularly with the teacher when facing challenges regarding the pursuit of project outcomes/assignment completion by the posted due dates.

Safety Quiz (To be completed before you start your first two projects)
Hello!
Your class fees include all of the basic supplies you need for this class. However, in some assignments, part of your learning will require you to source (hopefully free) local ingredients.
The fee for this class, at all levels, is $30 per term, per student.
This minimal fee needs to be paid at the start of class - each term - before students may work on the hand-on labs AND after they pass the easy Art Material Safety exam. This fee is non-refundable, so please commit to finishing the class before paying/joining. Your enrolment may prevent someone else from registering in this capped numbers class. Please make sure to put your name on the wait list if you were not able to register for round 1 of this very special virtual learning opportunity.
Please also note: This fee only partially covers the cost of supplies needed for the hands-on labs. Capital items like scissors, brushes, rollers, printmaking rollers, kilns, etc...will be provided by your home school.
Your individual school art supply box: contents and location
The Art Material Safety Quiz can be accessed by clicking HERE.
Request additional supplies here: shelley.deck@pvsd.ca (Please allow at least one week for response)
Still not convinced that Visual Art 10-20-30 is for you? Maybe you are stuck in the past! We do NOT subscribe to the 'poor starving artist model' in this class. This program is employment skill and creative career readiness focused! By the end of the term in each section, you will be well on your way to creating a portfolio of original work that is informed by what is needed - and happening - in the arts industry today. Ms. Deck will be sharing the many ways she generates a passive/repeat income in the creative economy so that you can become self-employed as a creative too! Think art + business = $$$!
