Application

The Application pieces for the 2024-25 school year will become available on August 1st, 2023. There will be some minor changes in the process. Specifically, students will be able to complete the primary application and writing sample, however, we will ask for the grade report to be submitted AFTER the first quarter of the 2023-24 school year. For those students that have applied prior to the end of the first quarter, a reminder email will be sent for the grade report submission. It will be important for students to NOT wait to begin the application process. When we reach maximum capacity, students will be placed on a waiting list.  We will begin admitting students in the mid to late part of October 2023 based on the date of application submissions and meeting of the admissions criteria. Please contact Kevin Storey - kstorey@pvschools.net - if you have questions.

Securing a spot in DAAPS is dependent on meeting the qualifications and when the application is received.

There are 3 parts to the application below. Students must be Honors/Gifted Students with a minimum 3.5 GPA on a Current Grade Report to be submitted at the conclusion of the 1st quarter of the 8th grade school year or after. Students will also need to obtain a teacher recommendation from a current teacher (preferably English or Social Studies).

There are a limited number of spots available in the program.

The entire process is electronic.

The application pieces for the 2023-24 school year have been closed. For those interested in applying for the 2024-25 school year, please return to this page on August 1st, 2023. The application will be open at that point.

For those coming from out of district OR out of SMHS boundaries, here is some information about Open Enrollment

This will guide students, parents, and guardians through the application process for Shadow Mountain High School’s Digital Academy for Advanced Placement Scholars (DAAPS) application process. All steps of this application must be completed in order to be considered for the program.

Step one: The Student Application.

Fill out the google form below (Step 1 button link below). Both parent/guardian and student must fill this out together. The form does not autosave, so be prepared to fill out the form in its entirety. The form, however, can be edited after submission if a mistake is made.

NOTE: This application does require the submission of a writing sample. The prompts have been posted below. You may want to complete the writing sample before completing this form. The writing sample will need to be completed in a document for submission in the application.

For the writing sample: Please access the following document for all of the details - Writing Prompts for the 2024-25 DAAPS Application. It will be important to complete the writing sample before beginning the application as the writing sample will be submitted inside the Google Form.

Step Two: A teacher recommendation.

In order to be considered for the DAAPS program, it is the responsibility of the student to request (at least) one teacher recommendation from a current or previous teacher. The teacher must use the link below to fill out their recommendation. It is best to have an English or Social Studies teacher submit the recommendation.

Use the button below to take you to the form. You can copy and paste the link to give to your teacher(s) that will be completing the recommendation on your behalf

Step three: The Grade Report.

A slight change has been made this year. Grade reports will not be accepted until after the completion of the 1st Quarter of the 2023-24 school year. For PVUSD, this means after October 18th. For students that apply prior to October 18th (and it is highly encouraged that they do), a reminder email will be sent.
