I am thrilled to be starting my tenth year teaching the self-contained gifted 4th graders at Sonoran Sky! Before coming to Sonoran Sky, I taught political science at Phoenix College and Paradise Valley Community College for 21 years, and I directed the before-school science program, SCIENSATIONS, at Sandpiper Elementary School for 11 years. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Government with a Minor in Fine Arts from Georgetown University, my Master of Arts degree in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia, my Elementary Teacher Certification from Rio Salado Community College, and my Gifted Endorsement from Estrella Mountain Community College.
On a personal note, I have three children: a son who is a graduate of Northwestern University and a graduate school in Japan and who lives with his wife and three-year old daughter with me and works for a tech company in Scottsdale; a son who is a graduate of Columbia University and who is a freelance writer in New York City; and a daughter who is a graduate of Northwestern University and who works in Chicago. I love reading, traveling, swimming, cooking, and zumba. I have played classical piano since I was five and still love to play. Since the start of the pandemic, I have been working on my ukulele skills, and I dream about being able to travel again!
