Choir is a year-long class that helps young singers become literate musicians by learning to read music and solfege. The students create friendships as they sing together. This is a class that performs regularly at school functions and in the community. This is also a class that can be repeated in both years because there is always something new to sing.
Drama (SEM) is a course for students to start to explore the world of Theater. The students will be learning about acting, playwriting, directing, theater history, the technical aspects of a production and the appreciation of theater as a collaborative art. As students learn to act on their own and with others, they will improve in personal skills such as poise, public speaking, self-confidence and empathy.
This is a course for students with beginning, intermediate, or advanced-level skills.This is a course where students will learn at their own pace with the guidance of their instructor. Students will learn the basics of music notation, rhythm, melody, and harmony through daily use of electronic pianos. Students progress through instruction utilizing a variety of piano books and supplementary materials. Access to a piano/keyboard outside the class is helpful but not necessary. At the end of the semester, students will perform at a class recital for family members.
Students will be graded by full engagement with daily assignments, written quizzes, completing assignments to the best of their ability and within the time period given, and daily journaling.
