Communication:
Email me at cjobin@pvschools.net
Please include your full name and class period in the subject line of your email. I will respond to emails within 24 hours. Emails sent over the weekend will be responded to on the next following school day.
Google Classroom will always contain the most up to date information and instructions on current and upcoming assignments.
Infinite Campus will be used to update and monitor student grades and attendance.
My Website has information about virtual and in-person classroom expectations, links to resources for students and parents, and more information about me.
Classroom Expectations
Some expectations will be discussed in class, and in class only. Please talk with your student to receive information regarding how to turn in assignments, late work policy, attendance (absences/tardies), and many other policies like restroom breaks and more.
Enter the classroom quietly, when the bell rings you should be in your seat filling in your planner and working on your Bell Work.
Keep your cell phone turned off and in your backpack the entire school day.
No gum chewing in class.
No eating (this includes candy) due to students with severe allergies.
Wait to be excused by the teacher, packing up while the teacher is talking is disrespectful and is hard to hear instruction. Do NOT line up at the door.
Have materials you need for class everyday.
Respect the instruction and learning of other students. Be kind in the classroom.
Return all supplies and materials to where you found it, clean up your area before dismissal.
Sharpen pencils before instruction begins.
STUDENT PLANNERS
It is your responsibility to keep your planner current. I check planners every Friday.
I cannot stress enough the importance of parent/child communication and holding students accountable for writing accurately in their assignment planner and keeping track of assignments and due dates.
To meet your child's educational needs, occasionally assignments will be changed or have the date moved. There are times when children may need more instructional time, guided instruction, or independent practice which affects test or quiz dates. Please remember to check your student's planner.
GRADING:
All grades are posted online in Infinite Campus where both student and parent can access the students' grades.
LATE / INCOMPLETE WORK
Late assignments may be submitted up until the end of that particular unit for partial credit. They will be entered into the grade book as a zero or an M for missing until the assignment has been turned in.
You can earn up to a maximum of 50% for work turned in, even if only one day late. Best advice is to turn your work in on time. Please email me when you have completed a late assignment.
PLAGIARISM or ACADEMIC DISHONESTY
Plagiarism or Academic Dishonesty is a serious offense. Some common examples of plagiarism/academic dishonesty in the language classroom are copying all or parts of another writer’s paper and or homework, using Google Translate, or AI.
The occurrence of plagiarism will result in a zero for that assignment. Multiple instances of plagiarism from the same student may result in a conference with school administrators.
ABSENT WORK POLICY
In the event of an absence, please refer to Google Classroom. You will have as many school days as you were absent to make up the assignment. After those days are up, the late work policy goes into effect.
CELL PHONES
Cell phones, Smart watches, and earbuds are not permitted. Technology must be turned off and in backpacks. Failure to follow this rule will result in a referral.
If technology is discovered during a test or quiz, the assessment will receive a zero regardless of whether or not the student was using the technology at that time.
Other Classroom Procedures:
Bathroom breaks, testing protocol, and other classroom routines such as eating, or drinking will be introduced in class and will be reinforced continually throughout the year. For all other policies not listed on this syllabus, please discuss with your student
STUDENT/TEACHER COMMUNICATION
