Always remember that your mental health matters and taking care of yourself physically and emotionally should always be a priority! Below are some tips for all students to help focus more you their mental health.
Prioritize sleep
if you have trouble sleeping try white noise, a guided meditation/relaxation video on youtube or apps like Calm and Headspace
Make time every day to do something mindful
Mindfulness means you are taking the time to be fully present and aware in what you are doing. You can be mindful by putting your phone on airplane more, taking out your earbuds and sitting outside.
You can be mindful in the classroom by using all of your senses to present in the moment (what do you see, feel, smell, hear, etc)
Get outside
nature has positive impacts on both mental and physical health
it’s a natural way to help decrease depression and anxiety
Turn off smart phones (at least for part of the day)
There may be some withdrawal or anxiety about not being right there for what you think is critical, but just stop and think. How many texts, Instagram stories or other digital communications do you need to see immediately? Very few! Once you try it, you may actually find it refreshing to have a break from the constant notifications.
