Expectations

DRESS REQUIREMENTS

•Students must come to physical education class prepared to participate. Students have the option of bringing their clothes to school for class or wearing their PE clothes to school.

•Students can wear sweatpants, sweatshirts, nylon pants, shorts of any kind, tee - shirts, cotton capri pants and they must wear appropriate sneakers.

•Students cannot wear tank tops, khaki pants, dress pants, skirts, jeans, stretch jeans/jeggings, dresses, capri jeans, shoes, boots, open back sneakers, shoes with a heel, skater sneakers (not recommended), flip flops or jewelry.

•Students will lose a ½ point from their quarter grade each time they are unprepared (but still have sneakers). Students will lose 5 points for the day if they cannot participate at all due to improper attire.


TARDINESS

•If a student is late for class three times without a pass in a quarter, they will receive detention.


LOCKS AND LOCKERS

•Each student will be issued a lock and a locker at the beginning of the school year. If the lock is not returned to your physical education teacher by the end of the school year, the student will be responsible for having to pay for the lock so the lost locks can be replaced.

•The students are responsible for making sure all of their belongings are locked up safely in their lockers. The physical education department is not responsible for stolen items in the locker room.

•All jewelry, books and other belongings must stay in the locker room.


STUDENTS ON MEDICAL

•If a student is unable to participate in physical education due to a medical reason, a doctor’s note MUST be given to the nurse (the nurse will make a copy for the PE teachers). Once a student is able to continue back in PE, the nurse MUST receive another note from their doctor in order to return to PE class.

•Students will be responsible for doing an alternate assignment during class when they cannot participate due to injury.

•Students must report all injuries that occur in class.


PARENT NOTE FOR INJURY OR ILLNESS

•A student is allowed to bring in a parent note if they are injured or ill. The parent note is valid for two class periods only. If the problem is still occurring at that point, student must see a doctor.


DISCIPLINE AND BEHAVIOR

•Must keep hands to yourself at all times

•1st warning-teacher will speak to the student

•2nd warning-student will be asked to sit out and two points will be taken off of their quarterly grade

•3rd warning-student gets written up and a phone call home

PARTICIPATION 40 points

Student must participate consistently with 100% effort and needs to be

enthusiastic during PE class.

Student must be prepared with proper clothing, proper foot wear



BEHAVIOR 40 points

Student must show positive behavior toward self, peers and adults.

Student must be safe with equipment and others at all times.

Student must show leadership.

Student must be on time for class.


SKILL ASSESSMENT/KNOWLEDGE 20 points

Student should be able to perform a skill/skills specific to each unit.

Student should be able to demonstrate skill by using the knowledge of the skill

given.

Students will be assessed throughout the year on the rules of games, important vocabulary and skills for a unit
