Welcome to 5th Grade!
I am hoping for a great year from all the students. We are concentrating on being respectful and responsible during the school day. This is a great tool that the students can use throughout their life.
We will start the year off with some exciting activities! In math we are studying Fractions and doing some Algebra. In Language, we are working on Proper Nouns and putting commas in the appropriate places in our writing. We also will be doing a unit on Owls. This unit has been included in our reading, science, and writing.
The students will enjoy the dissecting of owl pellets to find what types of food an owl eats. This helps them to understand the food chain, and food web of the forest animals. Fifth grade looks to be an exciting year with many new adventures and learning experiences ahead!
Be sure to look for an Agenda to come home each night. You are asked to sign the daily agenda, letting me know that you know what we did that day. I will write any special notes in the agendas, and you can communicate with me also. The students will also bring home a weekly note on Friday. This note will have anything important happening the next week, spelling words for the next week, and any missing work the student needs to complete. Please sign the weekly note, and send to school on Monday.
