Bound Student-Athletes for Division I-II

The National Collegiate Athletic Association is a member-led organization dedicated to the well-being and lifelong success of college athletes. It hosts 1,117 colleges and universities, 100 Athletic Conferences, and 40 Affiliated Sports Organizations.

College-bound student-athletes preparing to enroll in a Division I or Division II school need to register with the NCAA Eligibility Center to ensure they have met the amateur standards and are academically prepared for college coursework.

If a student-athlete has any inclination that they would like to play NCAA Division I or II sports they should ask their school counselor for a list of high school NCAA Core Courses that their school offers; this should start in the ninth grade. As a sophomore, the student-athlete should register with the NCAA Eligibility Center, found at http://eligibilitycenter.org

As the student-athlete progresses into 11th grade, they should check with their school counselor to make sure they will graduate on time, with the required number of NCAA Core Courses, which are 16, have taken an ACT or SAT exam, and submitted them to the NCAA, using the code 9999. At the end of the school year, the guidance office will send their current transcript to the NCAA Eligibility Center.

Through their 12th grade year, the student will need to finish up their NCAA Core Courses and complete all academic and amateurism questions in your NCAA Eligibility Center account at http://eligibilitycenter.org If they happen to take another ACT or SAT, they are required to put the code 9999, as one of their school choices. When the student-athlete is ready to graduate they need to remind their school counselor to send their final transcript to the NCAA Eligibility Center as proof of graduation.
