Hello! My name is Wendy Tipton. I graduated from Schuyler County High School in 1987. I then went on to get my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education Degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia (Mizzou). I started teaching at Newtown-Harris as a combination 5th/6th Grade Teacher. I remained there for 3 years. During this time, I also obtained my Master's Degree with Emphasis in Reading from the University of Missouri-Columbia (Mizzou). Putnam County R-1 School was my next stop and is where I have remained for the past 25 years. My work history at Putnam has included: 3rd Grade Teacher for 3 years, 2nd Grade Teacher for 2 years, and Title I Reading Teacher for 20 years. The start of the 2019-20 school year will mark my 29th year of teaching.
I am married to Allen Tipton, a 1987 graduate of Putnam County. Allen serves as our school's Transportation Director. We reside in Unionville with our 2 daughters, Chloe and Claire, both whom are Putnam County students. Our son, Ransem, lives in Tucson, AZ and is employed with Walmart. My parents are Judy and the late Junior Whitworth. My brother is Scott Whitworth. He is married to Mrs. Gayla Whitworth, also a teacher at Putnam County.
