Mr. Michael-James L. Ellis
Mr. Ellis, originally from New England, has made Arizona his home for over 25 years.
He has authored and co-authored five papers published in the annual Proceedings of the Society for Astronomical Sciences, as well as four papers featured in The Journal of Double Star Observations. Currently, he is in the process of working on about half a dozen additional papers.
He served as the Lead Photographer for the Belize Valley Archaeological Reconnaissance (BVAR) Project through the University of New Hampshire from May 31 to June 25, 1999. Additionally, he works as a Research Scientist and Educator for the Fairborn Institute and takes on freelance photography and filmmaking projects for the Ellis Research Observatory and Library.
With 15 years of teaching experience, he is currently engaged at Payson High School, where he teaches various science courses at the Payson Center for Success Academy. In addition, he teaches Physics and carries out astronomical research in his Earth and Space Science class on the main campus.
He holds a B.S.Ed. in Physics and Secondary Education from Northern Arizona University (College of Engineering, Forestry, and Natural Sciences, 2009), an A.A.S. in General Technology from, and a Certificate in Photography from Mohave Community College (Lake Havasu City, 2002).
