TNR or Trap-Neuter-Return is a method of controlling the feral cat population and limiting the spread of disease within their colonies. The cats are trapped in humane cages. The traps are monitored until the cat enters, to prevent accidents. The cats are then transported to a vet clinic where they are fixed and vaccinated. Once they have recovered from the procedure they are returned to their home.
Cats breed at a very fast rate. Two unaltered cats can easily produce a lineage of hundreds of cats within just a few years. Being a feral cat is a hard life. They are very susceptible to illness, injury, and abuse by humans. Preventing their ability to breed reduces fights, infections, and overpopulation. There are numerous other benefits as well.
