Our Origins Are Rich.

From the lense of Ghana’s own Michael Aboya comes “The Origins of Ewa”, a captivating photography exhibition that aims to showcase and honour the beauty, self reliance and contentment of African women in their personal sanctuaries.

Our Future Is Clear

Through this collection of images, we invite viewers to explore the brilliance of these women as they navigate their everyday lives and create spaces that foster their sense of comfort, solace, selfhood and self-care.

This exhibition serves as an homage to west African women specifically, to their strengths, individuality and creativity the aim is to reveal their multifaceted identities and the unique environments that nurture their well-being.

How Do You "Breathe Easy"?

The featured images capture intimate moments where we see the women find relief in their safe spaces, whether it be their homes, workshop “houses”, gardens, with their children or other personal domains. Each photograph provides a genuine glimpse into their lives, illuminating the emotional connections they have with their surroundings and the ways in which they shape their own stories of self-expression.

Reconnect & Rebalance

Through these images, we strive to highlight these women as powerful agents of their own stories. By showcasing the spaces they have carved out for themselves, we allow viewers to witness the beauty and authenticity that arises when individuals create an environment that reflects and celebrates themselves.

In curating “The Origins of Ewa” we intend to create a space that allows visitors to pause, reflect, and engage with these powerful narratives. We invite viewers to immerse themselves in the stories woven within each photograph.

Join us on this enlightening journey as we celebrate African women in their self-care spaces, breathing easy and recognising their immeasurable contributions to our culture.
