Shirley Chisholm: Catalyst for Change

Join PG Professor Jane McElligott as she examines Shirley Chisholm’s life, from schoolteacher to Presidential candidate, and celebrate the powerful impact she has had on future generations of changemakers. Shirley Chisholm was the first Black woman to be elected to Congress in 1968 and went on to be the first Black woman to run for President. “Fighting Shirley,” as she was known, was an amazing coalition-builder who truly had guts – she realized that the only way to effectuate meaningful change was through activism and by being a trailblazer, paving the way for other women, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, and indigenous peoples to follow her path to take on leadership roles in the government. Registration is required for this event.

Business leaders today face unprecedented challenges—and it's not uncommon to feel overwhelmed by the sheer number and complexity of nonstop decision making. To further complicate matters, you may believe that some decisions require rational (brain) decision making, while others call for you to "go with your gut." In The Steadfast Leader, you'll discover that integrating the two—brain and gut—will help you become the calm, steadfast, and powerful leader you want to be. Congratulations, Dr. VanderPal.
