Student Success Coaching Program Celebrates One Year of Addressing Student Needs

Siblings Juliette Garcia and Jose Garcia Fiallos are always there for each other — even in college.

“We push each other and help each other out,” Jose says.

But the sister-brother duo from Trenton, New Jersey, has additional support to help them through their journey in Purdue Global’s School of Business and Information Technology: student success coaches.

In different conversations with their academic advisors last fall, they shared that they needed some assistance with their coursework and navigating through Purdue Global’s online student resources. The advisors referred them to student success coaches, which was a game-changing moment for both. Read more about Student Success' impact.

Writing Across the Curriculum Workshops Updated to Include AI

The CTL workshop CTL043, Writing Across the Curriculum, has been updated and now includes a module on Artificial Intelligence (AI). The new section addresses strategies for ethical AI use in the writing process and detecting and addressing students' AI use. For those who have already completed CTL043, a standalone module, CTL044, is available.

Commercial Air Service Returns to Purdue University Airport

Purdue University and Surf Air Mobility Inc. (NYSE: SRFM) have agreed to begin scheduled commuter air service between West Lafayette/Purdue University Airport (LAF) and Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (ORD) with a target start date in early second quarter 2024. This marks the return of commercial air service for the first time since 2004 to LAF, Indiana’s second-busiest airport in terms of total annual aircraft operations. Reminder: Black History Month Guest Speaker - Adam Harris

OCIE would like to remind you that Adam Harris, staff writer for The Atlantic magazine and author of The State Must Provide, is the keynote speaker for Black History Month 2024. Mr. Harris’ book details the history of black higher education in America and sets out a path toward a more equitable system for all. Reading the book prior to the presentation is suggested, but not required. 

Mr. Harris will speak on Thursday, February 29, at 1:00 pm ET. Zoom registration is required for the event.

On her episode, Ashley discusses the needs of adult learners, how an institution can support their success, and practical ways to assist students.
