Q: What is a digital or open badge?
A: Digital badges, sometimes also referred to as open badges, are web-enabled versions of a credential, certification or learning outcome which can be verified in real-time, online.
Q: How will I know if I have earned a badge?
A:
An email is sent to the your associated email address each time a badge is earned. The email comes from noreply@badger.com with the subject of: "Congratulations, you earned a badge!"
You will always have access to the badges (and certificates) you've earned via your Canvas Credentials Backpack. You can revisit badges earned from Purdue Global by clicking on the “My Badges” link.
Navigating to the “Canvas Badges Personal” tab on the org switcher and clicking on “Backpack” allows you to view all badges you have earned from any organization.
BEST PRACTICE: Add an additional email address to your Canvas Credentials Account
Q: How does my achievement get displayed as a badge?
A: We have partnered with Canvas Credentials to translate the learning outcomes you’ve demonstrated into a badge, issued and managed through the company digital badging platform. The technology Canvas Credentials uses is based on the Open Badge Standards maintained by 1EdTech. This enables you to manage, share and verify your competencies and credentials digitally.
Q: What are the benefits of a digital badge?
A: Representing your skills as a digital badge gives you a way to share your abilities online in a way that is simple, trusted and can be easily verified in real time. Badges provide employers and peers concrete evidence of what you had to do to earn your credential and what you’re now capable of.
