Insurance vs Self-Pay
You have the right to pay privately for services to avoid sharing your personal information with your insurance company.
Some clients prefer not to use insurance for mental health services, as insurance companies require a diagnosis for billing. This diagnosis, along with other requested information, becomes part of your health record and can be reviewed by your insurer.
If you choose to use insurance, please verify with your insurer that we are in-network by calling the number located on your insurance card prior to your first appointment. We can run a courtesy benefits verification, but coverage is not guaranteed. You will be responsible for any copays, deductibles, or changes in insurance. Note that charges for missed appointments, forms, and calls cannot be submitted to insurance.
Out-of-Network Benefits
Your commercial insurance may offer out-of-network benefits to help cover therapy costs. We provide superbills for you to submit to your insurer for potential reimbursement, depending on your plan. You'll also receive a "Good Faith Estimate" (GFE) to help plan for out-of-pocket expenses for the year.
Cancellations & Missed Appointments
Your appointment time is reserved especially for you. Please notify us at least 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This allows us to offer the slot to someone else.
Missed appointments and/or late cancellations without 24-hour notice may result in a $55 fee. This charge will NOT be billed to insurance but rather will be added directly to your bill. Exceptions to this charge are at the sole discretion of Pulse Counseling & Wellness Center PLLC and with respect to our contractual agreements with 3rd party payers. More information can be found on your initial intake forms.
You can cancel on the Client Portal, by call or text at 309.232.8669, or by email at admin@pulsecounselingandwellness.com. If you are late for a session, you may lose some of that session time.

The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 was enacted on December 27, 2020 and contains many provisions to help protect consumers from surprise bills, including the No Surprises Act under title I and Transparency under title II. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Read More >
