We've established criteria to be accepted into Lake Cumberland Virtual Academy, and also to continue in the program if accepted.
Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 (C average) and no Fs in core subjects from previous enrollment.
If academic history is not available or compatible, complete diagnostic entrance exams. It is preferred that students achieve on-grade-level entrance scores in math AND reading.
High School: IXL Diagnostic (See Table 1)
Middle School: i-Ready Diagnostic (See Table 2)
History of academic success
If previously enrolled in Pulaski County Schools, a committee may analyze grades, notes from teachers and principals in Infinite Campus, and consult students’ previous teachers.
If not previously enrolled in a Pulaski County school, the student will provide evidence of success in a prior school setting, such as homeschool, private school, or other public school.
A committee will review application materials, and any other relevant considerations, to determine each student's eligibility. If accepted:
Students and parents must attend an orientation meeting in-person with the Virtual Academy Dean of Students.
Students must submit all required documents:
- Sign the Code of Conduct in the Student Handbook.
- Sign the Electronic User Agreement (Acceptable Use Policy).
- Sign the Technology Equipment Checkout Agreement if school equipment is issued to the student.
- Sign the Virtual Academy Contract
Students' progress will be monitored weekly by teachers.
Maintain a cumulative 2.0 GPA (C average) or higher, with no Fs, each semester.
Complete and submit all coursework on time. Stay “on target” to finish classes by the end of each term.
Participate in all Diagnostic assessments, in-person. (See What is IXL? What is i-Ready?)
