Who Should Complete the FAFSA?
Any student, regardless of income, who wants to be considered for federal, state, and school financial aid programs. This includes grants, scholarships, work-study funds, and loans.
Basically, ANYONE who will be attending a postsecondary institution.
What You Need to Apply
A verified account username and password on StudentAid.gov (called an FSA ID).
Parent contributor's email address
Income and asset information (if required)
When to Apply
Students will apply during their senior year of high school.
The application opens on October 1st.
How to Apply
Go to the Official FAFSA Application to start your form.
Fill out your student section (takes about 12 minutes).
Invite parents or a spouse to fill out their contributor sections if you are a dependent.
Give consent to pull tax information directly from the IRS.
Submit the form before your state or school deadlines.
