Formal gifted identification for students begins in the 4th grade. Listed below are the qualifiers for the different identifications. Academic areas must include a qualifying test score unless a child has a documented special consideration (e.g. disability, disorder, socio-economic issues, etc.), teacher recommendation, and gifted committee recommendation. Visual art identifications must have an audition/portfolio, recommendation, and committee recommendation. Students may qualify in more than one category providing they have the required evidence and a committee recommendation for each category.
