I am originally from Michigan and moved to Somerset, Kentucky 30 years ago. I graduated from Campbellsville University and have a master's degree as a reading/writing specialist from Eastern Kentucky University. I am also a National Board Certified teacher in the area of reading and language arts.

I have a son named Josh who recently graduated with honors from Southwestern High School. He is headed to the University of Louisville on a Brown Fellows Scholarship.

I work to create a classroom environment where students can monitor their own learning, remain self-motivated, and take responsibility for their own education. The students in my classroom actively take part in their learning experiences. I design my lessons, using our Kentucky Academic Standards, to enable students to meet the expectations while building their self-efficacy. I teach my students that effort equals success!

This is my 25th year teaching in the Pulaski County School System. I am proud to be affiliated with a school system that puts children first, and demonstrates to parents and the community that learning is taking place!
