Pukerau Primary School

Te Kura o Pukerau

Pukerau, ‘The Land Of A Hundred Hills’ is a small rural community, situated approximately 12 minutes North of Gore.

We are a rural school of around 56 students, with our school families coming from Waipahi, Pukerau and Kaiwera predominantly.

- We have three classes -
Room 1: Our Year 3-4 students
Room 2: Our Year 1-2 students
Room 3: Our Year 4-6 students

Our school was established in 1881 and is an important part of our community.

Each of our classrooms has two teachers who job-share. In each room, one teaches Monday-Wednesday and the other Thursday-Friday.
We enjoy the many benefits our job-share teaching positions bring to Pukerau School such as:
A wide range of knowledge and expertise, strong coverage of all curriculum areas with teachers leading learning in areas of personal strength and passion.
A real team atmosphere with lots of people working together to support and care for our akonga (students).
The ability for job-share teachers to cover for one another, providing ongoing classroom continuity.

If you would to pop in and visit our kura (school), please contact our Principal Lisa Parish on principal@pukerau.school.nz to arrange an appointment.
