Meet our counselor!
Aloha Pukalani Stallions! My name is Ms. Souza and I am another counselor here at Pukalani Elementary School. I was born and raised here on Maui and went to Oahu for my schooling, and now I am finally back home. After working in the DOE for about 10 years, I am so excited to be a part of an awesome school community and I can't wait for us to be able to see each other back on campus when it is safer!

Hi there! My name is Jenna Calasa, I am so happy to be your School Counselor at Pukalani Elementary. I have a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Masters of Education Degree in School Counseling. I have been working with the Hawaii Department of Education since 2014. As a School Counselor, I work to promote support based on the whole child approach, which ensures that each student is healthy, safe, and supported- emotionally, socially, and educationally. I look forward to being a support for all students and families at Pukalani Elementary School!

What Do Elementary School Counselors Do?
Facilitate short-term individual or small group counseling based on needs to support the student emotionally, socially, and academically at school.
Work collaboratively with teachers and school staff to support all students
Promote Social Emotional Learning Skills for all students
Consult with parents to support and be a resource
Provide information and/or referrals for community resources for families
Support families and assist with Attendance Policy concerns
