Knott's Berry Farm was created by Walter Knott and his wife Cordelia. They started a berry farm in Buena Park California in the 1920's. Knott and his wife used to sell berries and pies near the small town of Buena Park. In 1934, to make ends meet during the great depression Knotts and his wife Cordelia from 1890-1974 began serving chicken dinners on their wedding china.
Walter and Cordelia Knott first settled in Buena Park in 1920. The park started as a roadside berry stand operated by Walter Knott along State Route 39 in California. By the early 1940s, a restaurant, several shops, and other attractions had been constructed on the property to entertain a growing number of visitors, including a replica ghost town. The site continued its transformation into a modern amusement park over the next two decades.
