Since everyone has questions and concerns about how soccer is played? what are the rules? how long are the games? what is a penalty in soccer? these are a bunch of questions that everybody has in regards to soccer. Here are some questions that have been answered by our wonderful girls soccer coach Alex and a couple of the players.
Q) What are the requirements to be a player on the team?
(R) You need at least a 2.0 GPA and a current physical.
Q) What are some common rules about soccer?
(R) No hands (except the goalie), no offsides, and no dangerous play or fouls.
Q) What is a penalty shot?
(R) A one-on-one kick against the goalie after a major foul in the penalty box.
Q) What position do the players play?
(R) Forward, midfielder, defender, and goalkeeper.
Q) How many games have they won?
(R) We’ve won two out of four this season.
Q) Who is the captain?
(R) Elissa Villanueva, who plays the right midfielder
Q) How will the captain help the team?
(R) The captain leads by example, motivates the team, and communicates with the coach.
Q) How can the team help each other be better?
(R) By encouraging each other, practicing hard, and giving feedback.
Q) How do you guys train & when do you train?
(R) We train after school Tuesday through Thursday with drills, scrimmages, and conditioning.
Q) What do you guys do to support one another?
(R) We cheer each other on, help with skills, and stay positive on and off the field.
Q) What are your strengths as a player?
(R) I’m fast, have good ball control, and communicate well with teammates.
Q) How do you prepare for games?
(R) We warm up, review strategy, and stay focused with team talks.
