We’re thrilled to share the success of Pinacate’s very first Attendance Art Contest, a vibrant collaboration between our Parent Engagement Leadership Institute (PELI) and Ms. Briana Sanchez’s art class! After months of thoughtful planning and coordination, the contest was a resounding success, with over 160 inspiring student submissions that creatively expressed the importance of school attendance.
The energy and support surrounding this event were incredible! A fantastic group of school, district, city, and county leaders came together to cast their votes for the top three winners. Special thanks to:
Superintendent Dr. Araux
Director of Learning and Support, Mrs. Chavez
Principal Mrs. Jones
Assistant Principal Ms. McKenzie
PMS Teachers, PELI Team, Students & Parents
Mimi Badura – PELI Facilitator
Mayor Michael Vargas – City of Perris
Councilwoman Elizabeth Vallejo
Sonia Rezkalah – Riverside County Office of Education
This event truly brought our entire community together to celebrate student talent, voice, and engagement. As the first art contest of its kind in the district, it marked a historic milestone for Pinacate and set the stage for future innovation in student-led initiatives.
Dr. Araux expressed how deeply proud and impressed he was with our students' creativity, and we couldn’t be more proud to see their hard work celebrated in such a powerful way.
And now, the winners of our first Attendance Art Contest:
1st Place: Dayanara Abitia Flores
2nd Place: Sophie Gonzalez
3rd Place: Elizabeth Barron
On behalf of the Perris Union High School District and the Pinacate PELI Team, THANK YOU to everyone who helped bring this incredible vision to life. We’re excited to keep the momentum going and can’t wait for what’s next!
