GED Preparation

Introduction

PSA offers Free GED (General Education Development) classes to prepare for the four-part exam. Classes cover all four subjects Math, Language Arts, Social Studies and Science, with a targeted focus on math & writing skills.

Steps to obtaining your GED®

1. Call (530) 885-8585 to schedule your placement appointment.

2. Take classes either online or in-person at Placer School for Adults 3775 Richardson Drive, Auburn.

3. To take the GED® test visit the GED testing site (ged.com) select a test center, schedule and pay for your test. All this is done online by the student at ged.com.

4. Please call our office and ask to speak to a counselor if you have any questions (530) 885-8585.

GED Testing

The GED test is a computer-based test, comprised of four subject specific tests:

• Reasoning through Language Arts (155 minutes)

• Mathematical Reasoning (115 minutes)

• Science (90 minutes)

• Social Studies (75 minutes)

Test takers will learn basic computer skills needed for the test in our preparation classes, such as using a pull-down menu, cutting and pasting, highlighting and dropping text.

Placer School for Adults is an Authorized Pearson VUE Testing Center

The center provides a variety of testing opportunities for adults and allows candidates to register and schedule their tests online or through the Pearson VUE call center.

You will not have time to take all four GED tests on one day – PSA Counselors recommend only taking one or two subtests of the GED per day.
