Fitness is like marriage, you can't cheat on it and expect it to work - Bonnie Pfiester

Mr. Perez's Physical Education & Fitness Class Site

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year. As the new school year begins, I would like to remind you about the importance of Physical Education. Physical Education is the cornerstone of an active lifestyle for all students. Just as students learn the habit of regular physical activity, they can also learn to be inactive if they are not taught skills and provided opportunities to be active throughout their secondary years. School programs provide the skills, knowledge, and attributes that facilitate choosing physical activity after school, at home, and in the community.

I ask that you please review the rest of the Physical Fitness web site so that you are aware of guidelines and activities that are planned for your student this year in Physical Education. Students are assessed on their skills, fitness, and citizenship/sportsmanship each nine week grading period. It takes a significant amount of time to assess, record, and determine proficiency for mid-terms and quarterly grades. I strive to be fair, consistent, professional, and positive with all students. Please remember that Physical Education is an integral part of the overall development of your student. Thank you and I look forward to an excellent year!

David Perez

I was born and raised in Pueblo. I am a graduate of East High School. I obtained my BS in Exercise Science & Health Promotion from CSU-Pueblo as well as my Masters in Education, emphasis in Physical Education also from CSU-Pueblo.  I became a teacher because I love sports, health and fitness, and working with youth. Although this year will be like nothing before, I am looking forward to getting back in the gym and weight room with students and creating a new normal.
