We have the picnic and camp coming up. After the heavy rain over the last few weeks, there was a lot of talk about the water quality at beaches in Auckland. Many of Auckland’s beaches were not safe to swim in for a few days, including our beach!
Why did this happen? Is it normal or can we be making a difference to prevent this from happening? Are we showing enough respect for our oceans?

What does it mean to be respectful?
How can we show respect?
This week, we are going to read some texts about the Treaty of Waitangi and think about why the Treaty was created. Was the purpose of it to create a respectful agreement? Was it all undertaken respectfully?
We will then read a selection of texts which show 'respect' in different ways.
You will also have a chance to choose a text from Sunshine books online to read by yourself.
