WALT: Understand co-ordinates and how to read a map.
So you want to count in Māori! Follow these simple rules.
After you have completed this warm up this is your activity for today.
Counting 1-99 in Māori:
numbers 0-9 tahi, rua, toru, wha, rima, ono, whitu, waru, iwa, tekau
the number for 10 is tekau
ma = and so you add the basic numbers after 10, 20, 30 ...etc. e.g. tekau ma tahi=11
the number for 100 is Kotahi rau, add basic numbers together with the word rau. e.g. rua rau= 200.
Example: How do you say the number …. in Māori Answer the following:
19 (nineteen) –
44 (fourty four) –
100 (ninety nine) –
87 (eighty seven) –
Can you write the Māori name for the following numbers?
a. 15
b. 33
c. 50
d. 11
e. 96
f. 100
