Teacher Meet & Greet

The annual Teacher Reveal is when parents and students come to school to find out who their teacher will be. The PTA organizes signage for the event and traditionally provides a treat, like ice cream, to the families that attend. A chair for the event will coordinate with the school, present options for treats, oversee set up and clean up, etc. This event is planned in July. *Effective August 2022, families will be required to view their teacher assignments via Aeries--no class lists will be posted publicly.

Reflections

This National PTA program promotes art in schools by encouraging students to submit projects in the categories of visual arts, film production, photography, dance choreography, literature, and music composition in coordination with the annual theme. Winning entries can move up the levels for recognition. The Reflections Chair will promote the program via flyers or art night events, collect entries, organize voting, etc. Training is provided.

Grade Level or Room Representatives

Are you interested in helping your classroom and or grade level, this is a great opportunity to help Park View by being a liason between your teacher and other parents. This volunteer can help be the voice for our teachers, organize grade level events, plan activites for our carnival and much more... 

Library Help

We are always looking for extra hands to support our classes as they visit the library each week. 

Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week can help students make connections between being drug-free and a bright future by having them learn about and share what they want to be when they grow up. 

Walk to School Day

Park View Panthers participate in this annual event by gathering at nearby Citrus Grove Park before school starts and walking to school as a group. The Event Chair will organize the event. This typically includes reaching out for news coverage, local school board members, politicians, police and fire units for participation. We walk from Citrus Grove park up to the school before school starts. Planning for Walk to School Day starts in late August with the event in early October.

Book Fair

Twice a year we sponsor a book fair for our students and families (October and April). The Book Fair Chair evaluates vendors to present to board for approval, coordinates dates including drop off and pick up of materials, schedule volunteers, oversees day-to-day operations during event. Planning starts two months prior to each event.

Trunk or Treat

This annual event traditionally allows families to trick-or-treat from decorated vehicle trunks in the parking lot. We often offer additional activities such as crafts, games, food options, and more as allowed. The TOT Chair will work with a committee, choose a theme if desired, arrange for decorations, additional activities, oversee set up and clean up, etc. Planning starts in late August.

Collection Drive Chairs

(For the Troops, Community Food Drive, etc.)

Twice a year the PTA organizes collection drives to encourage giving back to our local community. We are looking for individuals who would like to help with the organization and running of one or both drives

Midnight’s Birthday Dance

This evening event (typically in January) allows families to come dance the night away and enjoy some treats. The chair can coordinate it all or work with a committee. You will select a theme (Principal and board approval required), get quotes for a DJ, promote the event, organize volunteers, etc. Planning starts in late November with the event being held in January.

Junior Olympics & Field Day Committee Members

Junior Olympics is an annual event for students in 4th-6th grades, put on by the Simi Valley PTA/PTSA council. Students traditionally participate in Field Day, where they can try their hand at the various events. A team of students are then selected to represent our school at the Junior Olympics event. The Junior Olympics chair and co-chair oversee the running of Field Day, selection of the Student Team with school staff assistance, arrange practices for all events, and coordinate all aspects of the team attending the Junior Olympics on a Saturday, typically in April. The event alternates between Simi High and Royal High campuses. A committee can be established to assist with many of the aspects, with a chair to oversee them. This is a fabulous volunteer opportunity for dads or family members who love to coach kids! Planning for Field Day and Junior Olympics typically starts in early January.

Honorary Service Awards (H.S.A.)

Honorary Service Awards recognize the service and dedication of both individuals and organizations for their work benefiting our school. The H.S.A. Committee will call for nominations, evaluate those received, and recommend recipients to the Board. Planning typically starts in January, with awards presented in February.

Talent Show

Our annual student Talent Show is coordinated by the Park View Elementary teaching staff. The PTA assists by helping to promote the event, arranging for concessions during the event, decorating, etc. We are looking for a lead chair to work with the teachers, as well as committee members who can assist. The Talent Show is traditionally held in April, with planning starting in late February.

Carnival Team (Event, Food, Prizes)

We are currently seeking lead coordinators for one of our most important fundraisers. These team players will report back to the board with updates and motions for event plans to be approved. Planning for Carnival starts in January, with the event being held in May.

Silent Auction

We are seeking a lead Chair for overseeing our annual Silent Auction. Duties will include procuring donations, organizing, and promoting the event, etc. Ample documentation is available providing guidance. This event often coincides with our annual Carnival in May. Planning can be yearlong or start in January.

Teacher & Staff Appreciation

The Teacher & Staff Appreciation Chair organizes and oversees the Teacher & Staff events we host during the year. Typically, the Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week in May. The Chair will select themes, set up volunteer schedules, garner donations from local resources, etc.
