DLA - WORK or VOLUNTEER PERMIT PROCESS
APPLICATION Steps
BEFORE APPLYING FOR A WORK PERMIT YOU MUST HAVE A JOB OR HAVE BEEN OFFERED A JOB. Otherwise you cannot apply for a work permit.
The Application form must be completed and signed by 3 persons: the Student Applying, his/her Parent, and the hiring employer/Supervisor. This means a student must print the Application to collect the parent and supervisor's signatures.
After the Application is completed & has signatures on it, Return the Application to DLA's Work Experience teacher, Ms. Veronica Moreno-Nicholas. You may return the completed & signed Application via:
Email application at vnicholas3@psusd.us (this means you will have to scan the completed Application to send it).
Drop the Application in person at the DLA Office, or
Send it by mail (DLA- Ms. V. Moreno-Nicholas, 2248 E Ramon Rd., Palm Springs, CA 92264)
Your application will be reviewed to determine if you are eligible for a Work Permit; among other requirements, a student must have a minimum 2.0 GPA.
If the application is approved, you will receive an email from Ms. Moreno-Nicholas to pick up your WORK PERMIT. <the permit can be send to you via email too>
A permit is only valid for the employer that signs it and for the current school year. A student may have more than one job, if that is the case, a student may apply for more than one permit per school year. Remember that DLA and the California Labor Law just want you to have a safe work environment.
