RECOMMENDATION #1:

There are many free flyer creation tools on the internet. A user friendly option with many template choices is Canva. Canva does have some paid offerings but there are enough free features to make it a valuable tool. Canva allows for collaboration (share flyer design with another parent to edit) and flyers can be embedded digitally with live updates.

RECOMMENDATION #2: If you are looking for a more basic flyer template, google docs or slides is great. Google provides free accounts, the opportunity to collaborate and some very basic features for flyer making. Best of all, our students in grades 3 and up are using google docs/slides so they can assist us when we are stuck. A folder of flyer templates has been created for your use and is linked here. To use these flyers, create an account, go to file (top left), select "make a copy" and now you can edit your own version! More examples are embedded below. Please keep in mind that these are only examples and not actual event flyers.

Publicity Ideas:

• Share your flyer with administration for approval and find out about the school policy regarding printing flyers vs. digitally distributing flyers
• Distribute flyers to school site staff and post in visible areas including the front office
• Post flyer to facebook, instagram or twitter
• Post on your school website
• Ask a school administrator to post your flyer digitally using peachjar or blackboard
• If needed, you may created a PeachJar acocunt as a community member and request permission to post flyers digitally.
• If you need to make copies to print, try submitting the flyers up to a month in advance so that your site administration can send flyer out to be copied through reprographics (ask for administrator approval in advance)

Tips!

• Offering snacks/refreshments is a strategy to increase attendance at your event
• Give people advance notice and then follow with a reminder the day before
• Provide contact information for questions that your guests may have (If you PTG/PTA does not have an email account, google would a good option. You board can all have access.)
• Make the flyer "kid friendly" because when students are excited they are more likely to pull the flyer out of their backpack and hand it their parents
