Ziggy is a certified therapy dog who has undergone rigorous training. Nellie Coffman is the first school to pilot this program and Mindy McEachran, the art teacher at NCMS is the one who is in charge of Ziggy.
The inspiration came after at home learning and she saw many students learning with their pets near them and they seemed calm. She wanted to bring that to in person school.
Ziggy is a Great Dane who was rescued after someone noticed him chained in a yard and looking very skinny. His demeanor is very calm and tolerant. He doesn't startle or get upset.
Ziggy provide our students with a sense of calm and peacefulness. Students look forward to coming to school.

Congratulations to our E-Sports team, led by Mr. Beall. Our team got first place with the Super Smash Brothers Championships. Way to go! Who says playing video games doesn't pay off?
The 20th anniversary of 9/11 terrorist attacks were commemorated at our school. In partnership with the SCRAP gallery, we raised a flag that had the names of all 2,996 victims. We had a list of 50 names that were read aloud along with small pieces of information about their lives. We had a moment of silence. We wrote postcards to our first responders. Nellie Coffman students showed respect and honored this moment in history. Way to be amazing citizens of our country, Cougars.
