Help take care of the campus grounds, garden, and contribute to the seed library promoting the idea of sustainability on campus with the “Keep It Growing” mindset.
Gather at 9am at Lares Lubert Commons for coffee and briefing session, followed by the service project and a virtual presentation.
Participate in campus garden activities, and remove invasive species and plant native species in the adjacent basin.

Partner with the Thrift Club for clothing donations and volunteer at a local humanitarian aid organization, preparing items for global distribution to support communities facing poverty and conflict.

Help support sustainability by volunteering at the Student Farm through hands-on projects that connect education, community, and the environment.
Gather at 9:30am at the Creamery for check-in and transportation, followed by the service project at the Student Farm and a lunch program afterward.
Mary Ann Smith, Penn State Schuylkill
Mary Ann V. Smith is a biology and chemistry faculty member at Penn State Schuylkill who specializes in sustainability education. She focuses her work on finding new ways to engage students in the environment and more sustainable living practices.
Service work will take place outside for several hours. Please wear sturdy, close-toed shoes and clothes you do not mind getting dirty, consider long pants and tall socks. Dress for the weather and come prepared with other necessary items such as a rain jacket/windbreaker, a hat/sunglasses, and sunscreen. Please also bring any items you may need during the event, such as a filled, reusable water bottle.
It will be a great day, especially when you come prepared!
As we gear up for the 2025 Global Sustainable Action: It Starts with Us Conference, let’s come together as a University for a day of service that embodies the conference theme of the Five Pillars of Sustainability: People, Planet, Prosperity, Partnerships, and Peace.

Adam Waterbear DePaul is a Chief of the Lenape Nation of Pennsylvania, where he serves as Tribal Storykeeper and Director of Education. He collaborates with academic institutions, filmmakers, authors, and others on authentic and educational inclusion of Lenape culture. He is a PhD candidate at Temple University, teaches courses in Indigenous Studies and Global Mythology, curates the Lenape Cultural Center in Easton PA and multiple Lenape exhibits, and has given over 200 presentations on Lenape topics. Chief Adam serves on several D.E.I. and B.I.P.O.C. committees and has been awarded two scholar residencies and the 26th Annual Germantown Mennonite Peace Award for commitment to education and indigenous advocacy.
