As we gear up for the 2025 Global Sustainable Action: It Starts with Us Conference, let’s come together as a University for a day of service that embodies the conference theme of the Five Pillars of Sustainability: People, Planet, Prosperity, Partnerships, and Peace.
The Global Sustainable Action: It Starts with Us Conference is a part of the Global Sustainable Action Weekend (GSAW) and will take place from November 1-2, 2025.

Virtual presentation about Sustainability and Indigenous Communities by Adam Waterbear DePaul of the Lenape Nation

Adam Waterbear DePaul is a Chief of the Lenape Nation of Pennsylvania, where he serves as Tribal Storykeeper and Director of Education. He collaborates with academic institutions, filmmakers, authors, and others on authentic and educational inclusion of Lenape culture. He is a PhD candidate at Temple University, teaches courses in Indigenous Studies and Global Mythology, curates the Lenape Cultural Center in Easton PA and multiple Lenape exhibits, and has given over 200 presentations on Lenape topics. Chief Adam serves on several D.E.I. and B.I.P.O.C. committees and has been awarded two scholar residencies and the 26th Annual Germantown Mennonite Peace Award for commitment to education and indigenous advocacy.

Great Valley students will travel to Brandywine campus (transportation is provided) to participate in Free a Tree project removing invasive species at Brandywine campus.
Please keep in mind that the transportation from your apartments to Great Valley campus is not provided (please use Uber or carpool), only transportation from Great Valley campus to Brandywine campus is provided on this day.
Volunteer at the Student Farm at University Park!
Meet in front of Eisenhower Auditorium on Shortlidge Rd. Transportation will be provided to and from the Student Farm.
Assist with harvesting produce, cultivating fields, and planting crops!
Service work will take place outside for several hours. Please wear sturdy shoes and clothes you do not mind getting dirty, consider long pants and tall socks. Dress for the weather and come prepared with other necessary items such as a rain jacket/windbreaker, a hat/sunglasses, and sunscreen. Please also bring any items you may need during the event, such as a filled, reusable water bottle.
It will be a great day, especially when you come prepared!
