Rules

Our Earth Science Week celebration is comprised of 2 components, a photo display and a photo contest. You are encouraged to submit your original image for the display, however, for your image to be eligible for the contest, an Adobe product must be used to enhance or modify the image.

  • Only 1 submission per participant.

  • Image size must be less than 100 MB.

  • By submitting an entry, an entrant represents that the photograph is an original work, authentic, unpublished, taken or created by the entrant, the sole property and work of the entrant, and not previously submitted in any other contest. Published material includes that which has been posted on the World Wide Web. This includes, but is not limited to, Facebook, or any other social network Website where photos have been posted and shared.

  • An entrant also agrees to allow Penn State to use his or her name to post on the web site, without compensation unless prohibited. Each entrant retains his or her rights to their photograph but grants to Penn State a royalty-free, world-wide, perpetual, non-exclusive license to publicly display, distribute, reproduce and create derivative works of the photograph, in whole or in part, in any media now existing or later developed, for any Penn State purpose, including, but not limited to, advertising and promotion. Penn State will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such uses.

  • In addition to the above, an entry into the photo contest requires that an Adobe Creative Cloud product be used to enhance or modify the image in some manner. The Adobe Creative Cloud (CC) software is available to all Penn State students and faculty members at no additional cost.

  • The organizing committee reserves the right to withhold any submission if it is deemed not aligned with the spirit of the competition.
