Welcome to the PSPA PTO!

Thank you for your interest in the Pine Springs Preparatory Academy Parent Teacher Organization (PSPA PTO)! Pine Springs is fortunate to have a community of families who are passionate about being involved in their child's educational experience.

The PSPA PTO provides families with opportunities to connect, volunteer, support school initiatives, and take on leadership roles. We hope this overview answers your questions and helps you find the best way to get involved!

Why was the PSPA PTO established?

The mission of the PSPA PTO is to support Pine Springs Preparatory Academy by fostering relationships between PSPA families and staff to further enrich an environment focused on the education and success of PSPA students. The PTO strives to strengthen our school community by creating opportunities for families to get involved, stay connected, and support initiatives that benefit all Pioneers.

How does the PSPA PTO operate?

The PSPA PTO is an independent, volunteer-run organization created to complement the unique needs of Pine Springs Preparatory Academy.

Our organization is powered by the dedication of our Pioneer families, volunteers, committee leaders, and supporters. The PSPA PTO is a North Carolina incorporated nonprofit organization and a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

The Executive Board works closely with school administration to align goals and ensure PTO efforts effectively support Pine Springs students and families.

What does the PSPA PTO do?

The PSPA PTO focuses on supporting school-wide initiatives, programs, and events rather than individual classroom activities.

Our committees and programs have evolved with the needs of our growing school community. Through parent, staff, and administrator feedback, the PTO regularly evaluates our programs and adjusts our efforts to best support Pine Springs.

How can I get involved?

There are many ways to be part of the PSPA PTO! Whether you have a lot of time to give or only a little, there is a place for every Pioneer family.

Executive Board Members

The Executive Board provides leadership and direction for the overall PTO organization. Board members help establish goals, support committees, coordinate communication, manage resources, and work with school administration to ensure PTO initiatives align with school needs.

Executive Board positions are elected positions with a two-year commitment and a two-term limit. Time commitments vary by role but typically span the school year.

Committees

PTO committees are a great way to take on a leadership role while supporting specific events, programs, or initiatives.

Committee chairs and coordinators typically lead a specific area of PTO work and collaborate with an Executive Board member for support. These roles are an excellent opportunity to share your talents, meet other families, and help build the future of our organization.

Committee leadership positions are appointed annually by the Executive Board.

General Members

Every Pioneer family and PSPA employee is welcome and encouraged to join the PTO! Membership is a meaningful way to support the organization and stay connected, but it does not require attendance at meetings or participation in fundraising activities. Membership benefits include:

Volunteers

Volunteers are the heart of the PSPA PTO! Opportunities range from helping at events to completing tasks from home.

Volunteer opportunities are shared through PTO communications, newsletters, and event sign-ups throughout the school year.

PTO volunteers must follow the school's Volunteer Policy. PTO membership is not required to volunteer unless handling financial transactions.

What are the PTO’s goals?

As a PTO supporting a public charter school, our organization has a unique role. PSPA and the PTO work together to support students and families by dividing efforts, coordinating resources, and creating meaningful opportunities for involvement.

Our goal is to continue building a strong foundation that supports our growing school community while making it easy for families to understand how they can participate.
