ENGLISH PSMO

Started in 1968, the Department of English is one among the founding departments in PSMO College, Tirurangadi. Holding a history of more than five decades, the Department plays a key role in the college and its extension to the society. With the introduction of Post-graduate courses in 2001, the Department moved to the next level of academics. By 2021, the Department has been recognized as one of the Research Departments under the Directorate of Research of the University of Calicut. Currently, the Department has a strength of 9 permanent faculty members.

Dr K Azeez Sri M K Abdurahiman

Faculty Members

Mr. Abdul Samad

Mr. Samad is the Head of the Department of English. He has been a part of the Department since 2010. Currently, he is pursuing his Ph.D. from the Farook College. He has a Certificate in Academic Writing from University of California and a Certificate of Master Trainer from ASAP.

Samad's areas of interest include Dalit Studies, Malabar Studies and Fiction.

Ms. Shamna R

Ms. Shamna has been a part of the Department since 2010. She has completed her M.Phil. and is pursuing her Ph.D. from the University of Kerala. She has certificates in 'Feminism and Social Justice' from the University of California and a Certificate in 'Psychology' from the University of Yale.

She has secured the 'International Young Researcher Award' of ESN Publications and the Vision Digital India's "Best Researcher Award", March 2021. Her areas of interest include Indigenous/Tribal Literature, Cultural studies, Language and Linguistics, Indian and Western Literary Theory and Criticism.

Ms. Jasin Taj

Ms. Jasin joined the Department in 2011. She has submitted her Ph.D. in The Department of Studies in English, Kannur University. Jasin is the coordinator of the Research Forum in the Department.

Jasin's areas of interest include Trauma Studies, Poetry and Postcolonial Narratives.

Ms. Shareefa Beegam

Ms. Shareefa has been a part of the Department since 2013. Shareefa is pursuing her Ph.D. from Farook College. She has secured a Certificate in Feminism and Social Justice.

A feminist by training, Shareefa's areas of interest include Gender Studies, Social Studies and Fiction.

Mr. Ajmal M P

Mr. Ajmal joined the Department in 2013. He is in charge of the Fine-Arts programmes of the College and is the Staff Coordinator of College Newsletter.

Ajmal has secured Masters Degree in both English and Sociology. His areas of interest include ELT, Grammar Studies and Fine Arts.

Mr. Abdul Salam C

Mr. Salam joined the Department in 2015. He has completed his Post Graduation from the Dravidian University, Andhra Pradesh, and has completed his PGDELT. He has to his credit publications in various national and international journals. He has been acting as the coordinator of Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP) of the college unit since 2017. His areas of interest include Literature and Ecology, Poetry Studies, Theater and ELT.


Dr. Mohamed Noufal N

Dr Noufal N has been part of the Department since 2015. He has completed his Ph.D. from the English and Foreign Languages University and his M.Phil. from the University of Hyderabad.

Dr Noufal has secured a Summer Research Fellowship from the University of Sussex, UK in 2015. His areas of interest include Postcolonial Studies, South Asian Studies and Malabar Studies.

Mr. Kabeerali. P

Mr. Kabeerali has joined the Department in 2016. He is pursuing his Ph.D. from Farook College. He has completed his Masters from Farook College and his BEd from Farook BEd College. He is a state level coordinator of Friends of Nature and a member of Malabar Natural History Society. He also coordinates the Nature related extension programmes of the College.

Kabeerali's areas of interest include Conservation Studies, Environmental Studies, Bird watching, Animal Census and Wildlife Photography.

Dr. Noufal PT

Dr Noufal PT has been a part of the Department since 2018. He has secured his Ph.D. and M.Phil. from the English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad. He has qualified NET in both Literature and Linguistics.

Dr Noufal PT's areas of interest include Language Studies, Cultural Studies, Mappila Studies and Film.
