Philippines Science High School- Western Visayas Campus in Iloilo City
Floralie L. Inayan is a linguist, English teacher, and consistent homeroom adviser at the Philippine Science High School – Western Visayas Campus in Iloilo City. With a PhD in Applied Linguistics and expertise in multimodal discourse analysis, semiotics, and academic writing, she bridges theory and practice in both research and pedagogy. Her current study, Discursive Dynamics and Defensive Othering of Philippine Online Hate Speech, explores how hate speech in digital spaces functions as a discursive practice that reinforces exclusion and power hierarchies, while also revealing strategies of resistance through defensive othering. This work contributes to applied linguistics by unpacking the cultural and linguistic complexities of online communication, with implications for education, civic discourse, and social justice.
