PHILIPPINE SCIENCE HIGH SCHOOL SYSTEM
PHILIPPINE SCIENCE HIGH SCHOOL SYSTEM
A Description
The joint program between the Philippine Science High School System (PSHSS) and the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD) focuses on developing the technology transfer capacity of the sixteen PSHSS campuses nationwide. The PSHSS, known for its cutting-edge STEM education, aims to implement a structured technology transfer framework to facilitate intellectual property (IP) application and commercialization of PSHS scholar- and teacher-generated research outputs.
The program is divided into different phases, which include training for select teachers and staff on intellectual property and commercialization, crafting the technology transfer of the PSHSS, technology pitching, an IP workshop for students and teachers, and the opening of a Technology and Licensing Office (TLO) on the campuses. The training on intellectual property and commercialization is conducted by esteem patent agents and lawyers of the Association of PAQE (Patent Agents Qualifying Examinations) Professionals.
The main beneficiaries of this initiative will be PSHS STEM and research teachers and staff, who will be upskilled in technology transfer, which will empower them to guide PSHS scholars in conducting research aligned with the research agenda of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and in compliance with intellectual property laws and commercialization standards. In a bigger perspective, the PSHS Office of the Executive Director hopes that commercialized projects from PSHS will benefit farmers, fisherfolks, small to medium enterprises, and Filipino households.
Expected outputs of this program encompass various categories known as the "6Ps":
