Mr. Joel C. Magday, Jr
Mr. Joel C. Magday, Jr hails from Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines. He finished a Bachelor of Science in Biology at Saint Mary’s University, Bayombong, in 2014 with Cumlaude and a Master of Science in Biology at the same university in 2017 with Academic Distinction. Currently, he is a faculty member of the Philippine Science High School—Cagayan Valley Campus, a premier science high school advancing STEM education for the people. He did his first publication on Current Research in Environmental and Applied Mycology by the Institute of Excellence in Fungal Research, Mae Fah Luang University, Chiang Rai, Thailand, and had the opportunity to work with the Center for Tropical Mushroom Research and Development at Central Luzon State University, where he further developed his technical aptitude. He also presented important advances and research findings in the Fungal Biodiversity, Ecogenomics, and Systematics-Metabolism (FBeS) Group at the University of Santo Tomas. As a DOST-ASTHRDP scholarship awardee with a Doctor of Philosophy major in Biology at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Mr. Magday focused his research on exploring the Philippine fungal biodiversity for the Filipino community. The results of his studies contributed to “Fungi and Myxomycetes for Agriculture, Health, and the Environment.”
