Dr. QUEENA LEE-CHUA
Dr. Queena N. Lee-Chua
graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University with a BS in Mathematics, summa cum laude. She also received a master’s degree in counseling psychology and a doctorate degree in clinical psychology from the same university, where she is a full professor.
A licensed psychologist, she writes the “All in the Family” column for the Philippine Daily Inquirer and has authored books on math, popular science, education, parenting, family and teen issues, mental health, family businesses, and inspirational stories. She used to host the TV show “Fun with Math” on PTV 4. She headed Ateneo teams that studied the best practices of Filipino public and private school achievers, the media and gadget habits of Filipino youth, and the mindset and habits of resilient Ateneo science majors.
A board member, speaker, and consultant for schools, government, civic groups, and family businesses, she sits on the boards of business and academia. During the pandemic, she has conducted several webinars for students, parents, teachers, civil groups, and businesses on online teaching and learning, resilience and mental health, math and science, best practices for family businesses, and financial literacy, among others.
Queena has garnered various recognitions, including the TOYM, the TOWNS, the Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Teachers, the DOST’s Great Men and Women of Science, the Outstanding Young Scientists, the National Book Awards, the Carlos Palanca, and the Catholic Mass Media Awards. She was featured in Asia Inc. Magazine’s
Who’s Hot in Asia and the Singapore Heritage Center’s Southeast Asian Personalities of Chinese Descent. She also became the first person to receive the Third World Academy of Sciences Regional Prize for Public Understanding of Science for East Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific Region.
For two years running, she was voted Most Legendary Teacher by Ateneo students themselves.
