Vendors for Rockets and Rocketry

Low to High Power Rockets and Qwest motors. While you can order direct, it is recommended to order through one of the online vendors listed below.

Quest motors bring the "dependability"* of composite single use motors to the low and mid power rocketry world.

Low and Mid power rockets and motors.  While you can order direct, it is recommended to order through one of the online vendors listed below.

Estes black powder motors are ubiquitous, dependable, inexpensive....and fun

Everything about Model Rockets

& Educational Materials (can be pricey though)

Local brick and mortar store to shop for rockets and supplies...

I think they still offer discounts to CMASS members... :)

Ms. Z personally orders through here. I have met the vendor and he has reasonable prices and fast shipping. Sell's everything from low to high power to experimental class III projects

Local online designer of Odd-Rocs (unusual & fun rockets)

Also a CMASS member

Ms. Z personally knows the owner, Ted Chernok. His tag-line is NOT hyperbole. In several decades I have never seen or heard of one of his harnesses failing. He has made all of my HP harnesses and rigging equipment for all of my custom projects.

This is strictly for high-powered projects.

Pre-fabricated and custom composite tubing and Kits (fiberglass and carbon fiber) for mid and high power projects.

(This is a manufacturer, so they can be a little slow in delivery, so plan wayyyyy ahead)

They do communicate well and do special-custom one-off projects (which is rare for a manufacturer)

Online Vendor, mostly high power, some mid-power. Popular and well thought out complete kits.

Flight altimeters. Ms Z personally has several Jolly Logic Chute Releases that she uses for primary or backup chute tenders for low to small high powered projects. Very easy to use and extremely durable and dependable.

Online Vendor of HP composite motors and cases.

Maker experimental and certified APCP composite motors and the only 54mm M-impulse rocket motor (M1378LR)

Online Vendor flight electronics, downlinked radio telemetry and GPS trackers. Ms. Z uses their GPS trackers as primary trackers. These are swarm based and communicate with other trackers to extend their range significantly.

Online Vendor flight electronics, downlinked radio telemetry and GPS trackers. Ms. Z uses their flight computers and RTx units in her projects as both primary secondary (redundant-backup) flight computers and trackers.

Mostly high power and experimental rocket supplies and kits. Have some low and model rockets as well. Also have some unique and popular kits and electronics not found anywhere else. Ms. Z is a personal friend of the owners, Robert & Gloria Dehate. Robert Dehate is an inventor and one of the most knowledgable professional fliers in North America.

World largest manufacturer of composite (APCP) motors.

Formulations used by NASA, Industry (commercial sounding rockets) and amateurs alike. CTI motors are considered to be the most reliable in the industry. Their C-star formulation, used by NASA for both the Space Shuttle SRBs and the SLS SRBs is available for amateur use!

Professional and Amateur supplier of composite and hybrid rocket motor components, chemicals and supplies. You need a class 2 or 3 NAR or TRA license to purchase from this vendor (they check and verify) and a Class 3 TRA license to purchase experimental supplies. This is a division of Aerotech Motors, one of the largest international commercial aerospace rocket motor manufacturers.

Parachutes (Main and drogue*): Often, model rocket kits (Estes, for example) come supplied with cheap mylar-plastic parachutes. I recommend replacement of these with upgraded parachutes.  Notably, Aerotech low power kits are usually supplied with higher quality parachutes, and do not need replacement.

If you are interested in building mid to high power, many "kits" do not come with recovery chutes, as fliers typically have there individual preferences.

In this regard, I have listed quality manufacturers and suppliers of parachutes, all of which Ms. Z has personally flown through the years.

Spherachutes Custom-made hemispherical parachutes (high quality) for LARGE projects. These pack really well and are very well made parachutes.

Fruitychutes Dependable parachutes for low power projects. Their TARC parachutes are great for low power and space limited projects. Makes a great replacement upgrade parachute.

Top Flight Recovery Dependable low power chutes. Their thin mill chutes are perfect for model rocket projects. These are typically standard parachutes in higher quality kits. No need to upgrade them.

Rocketman Parachutes Ballistic deployment parachutes. You would know if you need them. Have been to space and are the choice drogue parachutes for some of the largest high altitude amateur & professional launches. They also make low power parachutes as well.
