What we have recently done!
Hello Werner Families,
Feel free to contact me anytime (e-mail is best). My focus for Physical Education at Werner Elementary is social emotional learning. Our quarterly units include fortitude, empathy, decision making and relationships. We study these units through a multitude of activities. My hopes are that Werner students develop character traits that will help them be tough, smart and caring students when they leave for middle school.

So it's PE day ...
Kids should wear comfortable clothes that they can move around in (think running) and be upside down in (think cartwheel).
We usually meet in the gym to start every class. We will try to be outside a lot. Right now, kids can choose to wear masks if they want to.
4th and 5th graders have weekly, 5 minute Playposit assignments that they can get to at the top of this page by clicking on their grade level.
Achievement Grades
4: This is above grade level. Everyday in PE, these students move exceptionally, with or without equipment, while performing various physical activities and use intelligent strategies that enhance their teams and their health.
3: This is at grade level. Most days in PE, these students move well, with or without equipment, while performing various physical activities and use good strategies that enhance their teams and their health.
2: This is below grade level. Some days these students move well, with or without equipment, while performing various physical activities and some days they do not. Their strategies sometimes enhance their team and health.
1: This is below grade level. These are students are in progress of learning to move well while performing physical activities.
Effort Grades for 1st, 2nd, 3rd
3: This is at grade level. Everyday in PE, these students are safe, work hard, listen to directions and are respectful. They also help other students to be safe, work hard, listen to directions and be respectful.
2: This is below grade level. Most days in PE, these students are safe, work hard, listen to directions and are respectful.
1: These students have some days where they are safe, work hard, listen to directions and are respectful, but some days they are not.
Effort Grades for 4th, 5th
3: This is at grade level. Everyday in PE, these students are safe, work hard, listen to directions and are respectful. Also, they do 10 or more Social Emotional Learning Playposits per semester.
2: This is below grade level. Most days in PE, these students are safe, work hard, listen to directions and are respectful. Also, they do 5 or more Social Emotional Learning Playposits per semester.
1: This is below grade level. These students have some days where they are safe, work hard, listen to directions and are respectful, but some days they are not. Also, they do less than 5 Social Emotional Learning Playposits per semester.
