Intervention Programs Used At Tavelli

LiPS (The Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing Program):

  • Students will learn and reproduce the correct mouth formation for sounds
  • Students will listen to and be able to distinguish one sound from another
  • Students will blend and segment phonemes (sounds) and graphemes (letters)


Stepping Stones:

  • Students will put together sounds in a sequence and take apart sounds in a sequence
  • Students will identify letter names and sounds
  • Students work on identifying and producing rhyming words
  • Students will blend and segment sounds in spoken words


Sound Partners:

  • Students will read and decode words containing short and long vowels, vowel teams, and consonant blends
  • Students will learn phonics rules and syllable types
  • Students will blend letters together to decode simple words
  • Students will apply word decoding skills through reading of decodable storybooks


Seeing Stars:

  • Students will read and decode one syllable words containing short and long vowels, vowel teams, and consonant blends
  • Students will learn phonics rules and syllable types
  • Students work with real and nonsense words and word parts to segment and blend individual sounds and chunks of sounds.
  • Students will read and decode words containing plurals and past tense endings
  • Students will read and decode multi-syllabic words containing various phonics patterns
  • Students will learn to take apart longer multisyllabic words by identifying the word parts (prefix, suffix, root or base word) then blend the parts together to read the whole word


Read Naturally:

  • Students will have repeated readings of text to increase reading rate and accuracy
  • Students learn to apply phonics rules to unfamiliar words in context
  • Students will track and correct errors made while reading

  • Students learn new vocabulary words in multiple ways and multiple uses
