Dear First Grade Families,

First, thank you so much for attending our Back to School night! I have uploaded our slideshows to my learning page under “Newsletters” if you were unable to attend. 

We had a FULL week of school and now a long weekend! I plan to send out an email of my volunteer schedule before Tuesday. If you forgot to turn in your volunteer form, want to change a day/time, or decide you would like to volunteer, please email me :)

Some highlights from our week includes:

• Math: We started learning about shapes and their attributes (number of sides, vertices, etc)

• Literacy: We review some of our vowels and cvc words (consonant, vowel, consonant)

• Social Studies: MAPS! We learned about parts of a map, some map vocabulary, and will continue into next week.

• Social/Emotional: Inside voice vs outside voice, personal space, and respect is also kindness

• Labor Day!: We learned about what Labor Day is and how we can celebrate by thanking working adults in our lives.

Students came home with their Friday Folders today. There is a packet for “Homework” and it is NOT required. If students return the packet completed, they will earn blue tickets and possibly a special prize (not food).

This coming Monday, September 1st is Labor Day so no school! I look forward to seeing your kiddos on Tuesday :)

Dear First Grade Families,

We had a hot first FULL week of school, but we did it! It was full of laughter, fun and learning. 

Some highlights include:

• Learning how to rotate through math stations

  • Roll and Color

• Learning how to rotate through skills block stations

  • Lalilo: Code mxxgsy

  • Writing

  • Reading

• MysteryScience: How things are made!

• Duck, Duck, Goose with the whole class

• A FULL week of specials: Art, Engineering & Tech, Music, PE, and Media

Students will be coming home with their Friday Folders today. There are sign-ups for the 5K Fun Run, Pictures, Mileage club and more. Also don’t forget to check out the Shepardson Newsletter!

This coming Monday, August 25th, I will have a substitute teacher. I will still check my email throughout the day, so please reach out if you need me.

Dear First Grade Families,

I hope you had a wonderfully fun summer! I am so excited to get to know you and your student. 

Here are some fun facts about me :) I have taught 5th grade for 10 years and am SO excited to jump to 1st grade. I am originally from New Hampshire, but I have been living in Colorado for 4 years. I love all things outdoors: hiking, paddling, walking, camping, snowboarding, dog walks, etc.
  

A couple of things to think about before Supply Drop-off (Tuesday, August 12th from 3pm to 4pm):

1. Does your student have a preferred name they would like to use here at school?

2. I have attached an email from our Shepardson PTO Room Parent Volunteer Coordinator. Other sign-ups will be available at Supply drop-off and in their Friday Folders that will go home on Friday, August 15th. 

I look forward to seeing you on Tuesday! If you are unable to make it, please let me know and I will send you the information that will be given at Supply Drop-off or I will send it in the Friday Folder.
