Compensation Expectation:

Updates '23-24
The rate for PSD Hired Tutors will continue to be $30/hour.
Individual Tutors cannot exceed 24 hours per week (including both tutoring and planning hr/wk).
The PSD HDTutoring position is a licensed position. Thus, the minimum expectation is a substitute authorization. Clarification: A substitute authorization is an endorsement from CDE. This does NOT mean an employee with this endorsement is automatically entered into the PSD substitution pool - one has to apply to be in the PSD substitution pool.
If a human meets the job qualifications, is hired for HDTutoring, and is currently employed by PSD in another position that is classified; then the HDTutoring hours or other job responsibilities may extend them beyond a 40-hour week. Per FLSA, we may need to compensate this person at the overtime rate for these additional hours.
Confirm with Payroll if a hired HDTutor may fall in this category.
This hired HDTutor will need to complete the paper timecard and not use Kronos [Hourly Timecard | How to Complete Hourly Timecard]
Hiring, submitting ERs, assigning new positions, attaching payroll codes, and (all the things) takes time. Send vibes of grace and patience as this process transpires.
Follow the Connecting Instructions and lean on Bianca Katz for guidance.
Contact Bianca or Kate right away if something seems outside of guidance when interacting with a vendor or a vendor tutor.
Follow the Schedule and Deadlines to stay aligned to coordinating the timely partnership with our External Service Providers.
Part of our agreement with the External Service Providers is that they will not recruit PSD staff to work for their company and we in turn need to do the same. Do not encourage tutors from these companies to seek employment from PSD. If these tutors have questions, you can direct them to Kate Canine.
